The GP website that tells you what needs doing.
Everything a GP practice website needs, and nothing it doesn’t. Built to NHS England’s benchmark, it keeps track of your website’s jobs so your practice manager doesn’t have to. £395 a year, and nothing to pay until your current contract ends.
The demo practice homepage in the NHS style: the NHS primary care logo beside the practice name, a search box, a blue menu, and cards for appointments, prescriptions, sick and fit notes, test results, registering and requesting help online. Northern GP, our demo practice, as patients see it.

One less thing for your practice manager to carry: a website that keeps itself right, and tells you when it needs you.
Tells you what needs doing
Sign in and you see what’s due, like this month’s Friends and Family results or a page due for its 6-monthly check, with a button to do it.
You answer questions, we write the pages
No web pages to write. Your team answers short questions about the practice, and the pages are written in plain English for you.
Built for 50 out of 50 on the NHS benchmark
Every one of NHS England’s 50 criteria is covered. The platform does most of them for you, and your dashboard shows what’s left.
NHS design, built to WCAG 2.2 AA
Built with the NHS’s own design components and tested for accessibility every time the platform changes, so patients can use your site with a keyboard, zoom or any device.
About 40 jobs a year, remembered for you
A practice website comes with a calendar of small jobs that are easy to forget until an ICB review finds them. The gpsites.co.uk platform keeps track of them, and shows whoever signs in exactly what needs doing.
What needs doing, the moment you sign in
Your admin home opens with a short to-do list. Overdue jobs come first, each with a button that takes you straight to it. When everything is done, it says so.
The right jobs for the right people
Reception and admin staff see the jobs they can do, like this month’s Friends and Family results. Practice managers see everything.
Your score, and what to fix next
How many of NHS England’s 50 benchmark criteria and the GP contract’s website requirements you meet. Each gap links straight to where you fix it.

A year of jobs we keep track of
- 12 Friends and Family Test uploads
- Every month
- 26 page checks
- Each page, every 6 months
- 1 GP net earnings update
- Every year
- 1 privacy notice review
- Every year
Reminders show on your admin home when you sign in. We don’t fill your inbox with emails.
Less to write, less to remember, less to chase
Practice teams are busy. So the admin is built around the jobs you actually do, not around web pages.
You answer questions. We write the pages.
Tell us how patients book, order prescriptions or register, in short answers. We turn them into clear pages in plain English, with wording tested for a reading age of 9 to 11. A live preview shows the page as patients will see it.
Your phone number and online form link come from one place, so change them once and every page is right.

Closures and notices that take themselves down
Training afternoon, bank holiday, phones down? Write a line, choose when it starts and ends, and whether it shows on every page or just the homepage. It goes up and comes down on its own, so nothing is left up for months by mistake.

Reception can help, safely
Editors post news, add closures and upload Friends and Family results, and nothing else. Practice managers keep control of everything.
See who changed what
Recent changes sit on your admin home, and the full activity log is one click away.
A year of results at a glance
Friends and Family results show as twelve months, so a missing month stands out straight away.
How does your website score against the NHS benchmark?
NHS England has a GP website benchmarking and improvement tool. It checks a practice website against 50 criteria, and ICBs, PCNs and practices use it to see how well patients can use a site.
50 criteria
36 patient priorities, like contacting the practice, ordering a prescription and registering. 14 practice priorities, like keeping the site up to date. Plus a check of the legal requirements.
Rated well, adequately or inadequately
Each criterion gets a rating. The aim is “well” on all 50: that’s a website patients can use without help.
We check yours, free
We score your current website on all 50 criteria and the legal checks, and send you the results with the quickest fixes, whoever your supplier is.
Our platform makes 50/50 possible
Many of the 50 criteria depend on the website itself: accessibility, page structure, and how quickly patients reach what they need. Those are built into gpsites.co.uk, so they’re done for you. The rest depend on what your practice publishes, and we make that quick to keep right.
Built into the platform
- Built to WCAG 2.2 AA, and tested for keyboards and zoom on every change
- The main patient tasks one click from the homepage
- Works on any phone, tablet or computer
- Opening times for walk-in, phone and online, for every branch
- Online registration through the NHS service
- An accessibility statement written for you
- Site search that finds the key tasks first
Your practice’s part, made easy
- Keep opening times, staff and news up to date: it takes minutes
- Add your online consultation link
- Write in plain English, with a reading-age check as you type
- Review your pages when we remind you
See it on our demo practice
We ran our benchmark check on Northern GP, our demo practice. It met 48 of the 50 criteria. The other 2, the NHS look and feel and NHS design components, are judged by eye: the site uses the NHS’s own design, so they’re met too.
Your score depends on what your practice publishes, like opening hours and how to register. Your dashboard shows you exactly what’s left.
48/ 50 rated “well”
- Checked automatically
- 48 of 48 well
- Judged by eye
- 2: NHS look and design
- Cookie banners or pop-ups
- None
Our check of the demo practice, 11 October 2026. Not an official NHS England audit.
The benchmark is NHS England’s. The check is done by us, gpsites.co.uk, an independent supplier.

What we leave out, on purpose
Every extra system is another login and more to keep up to date. So there are no triage forms of our own, no chatbot, no booking system, no plugins to patch and no change requests to wait on.
We’re first to know if anything goes wrong.
Your website is how patients reach you, so we watch it all day, every day. If it stops working, we usually know before you do.
Live alert monitoring
We watch every practice website, day and night. If yours stops responding, we’re alerted straight away.

Questions practice managers ask
How much does gpsites.co.uk cost?
£395 a year per practice, or £35 a month, with no VAT to add and no setup fee. We won't charge you while you switch over: you pay nothing until your old supplier's contract ends, for up to 90 days.
Is gpsites.co.uk approved by the NHS?
We're an independent supplier, not part of the NHS. Our sites are built to NHS England's published guidance and benchmark.
What does our team actually have to do?
Not much, and the website tells you when. Each month someone uploads the Friends and Family Test results. Every 6 months you check each page is still right, and once a year you update your GP net earnings and review your privacy notice. Anything that's due shows on your admin home when you sign in, with a button that takes you straight to it.
Do we have to write the pages ourselves?
No. You answer short questions about your practice, like how patients book and order prescriptions, and we write the pages in plain English. You can add a short note of your own to each topic.
Can reception post a closure without access to everything?
Yes. Give them an editor account. Editors can post news, add closures and notices, and upload Friends and Family results. Only practice managers can change practice details, settings and who has access.
What if we forget to take a notice down?
Give it an end time and it comes down on its own. You can also schedule one ahead, like a training afternoon next month. Whatever is showing on your website is listed on your admin home, so nothing is forgotten.
Does it work with our online consultation tool?
Yes. We link clearly to whichever tool you use.
Can we keep our .nhs.uk address?
Yes. We connect your existing domain, or help you apply for one.
We're still in a contract with our current supplier. Can we start now?
Yes. We build your new site now and switch it on when your contract ends. We won't charge you while you switch over: you pay nothing until your old supplier's contract ends, for up to 90 days.
Ready to talk about your practice website?
A 20-minute call, no obligation. We'll answer your questions and look at your current site with you.
