Silicon Practice in administration: getting your practice back online today
By Sreeni, Editor · Last reviewed 3 November 2026 · 5 minute read
gpsites.co.uk isn’t connected to Silicon Practice. We’re a separate company: not its successor, its partner, its administrators or its buyer.
What happened
- 16 October 2026. Rendle & Co were appointed administrators of Schappit Ltd, the company that traded as Silicon Practice (notice in The Gazette).
- 27 October 2026. Schappit Ltd stopped trading at 5.30pm. The administrators said it had run out of funding (reported by Bedford Today).
- 28 October 2026. The practice websites went offline in the afternoon, along with FootFall online consultation and the chatbot (NHS West and North London’s notice to its practices).
- 2 November 2026. The administrators told interested parties, including us, that the Silicon Practice business and assets had been sold. The sale contract is confidential, so the buyer isn’t named yet. We don’t know whether the buyer will put the old websites back, or when.
- 3 November 2026. The practice websites were still offline when we last checked.
Whatever the buyer does, you don’t have to wait for them. There’s no minimum term with us, so if your old website came back and you preferred it, you could leave on 30 days’ notice.
What to do now
Until you have a website again, make sure patients can still find what they need:
- Your phone message. Add a line saying your website is temporarily unavailable, and how to book or order prescriptions instead.
- Your NHS.uk profile. Check your opening times and contact details there are right. It’s where many patients look first.
- The NHS App. Remind patients they can still book, order repeat prescriptions and see their record through the NHS App.
- Online consultation. If you used FootFall, it has stopped too. Tell patients how to contact you instead, and ask your ICB about a replacement.
Back online today: how it works
- Contact us. Email hello@gpsites.co.uk or ask for a preview below. Tell us your practice name or ODS code.
- We put your new website up the same day. In October 2026 we checked Silicon Practice websites against NHS England’s 50-point GP website benchmark and kept a copy of their public pages, so we can rebuild your opening hours, services, team and information even though the old website is offline. It goes up on a temporary address first, and you get a login straight away.
- You fill any gaps in 20 to 30 minutes. A short online form to check the facts about your practice covers opening hours, services, team and contact details. Your answers go live as soon as you send it.
- Your own address follows. Once your web address points at the new website, patients find you there as before.
Your web address
If it ends in .nhs.uk, it belongs to your practice, not to your website supplier. It’s pointed at your new website through a change to NHS DNS, and we handle the request with you. Our .nhs.uk domain guide explains who controls your address.
If it’s another address (ending in .co.uk or .org.uk, for example), it’s still yours. The administrators told us on 28 October 2026 that these domains are registered to the practices but were administered by Schappit Ltd, through the registrar 123-reg, and that they’ll release a domain promptly when the practice asks. Ask them in writing, as the registrant, and copy us in: we handle the transfer and point the address at your new website. Until then, patients can use your temporary address, and you can put it on your NHS.uk profile.
If you paid Silicon Practice in advance
Many practices had paid a year or more ahead. That money is owed to you by Schappit Ltd, and you’re one of its unsecured creditors. Write to the administrators, Rendle & Co, with your invoices and proof of payment, and ask to be added to the list of creditors. Their address is in the Gazette notice. We can’t tell you how much, if anything, will come back, or when.
What we can do is make sure you don’t pay twice. We charge nothing until the period you paid Silicon Practice for ends, for up to six months, and there’s no minimum term after that.
Online consultation
We don’t provide online consultation. If you used FootFall, your ICB is advising practices on a replacement. Whichever you choose, we link to it clearly from your homepage, never in a pop-up.
What it costs
£45 a month, no minimum term, or £495 a year, if you sign up by 31 January 2027. There’s no setup fee and no VAT to add. That price is guaranteed for 2 years, with no commitment. From 1 February 2027, the price is £55 a month, or £595 a year, and groups of three or more practices pay £495 each a year.
If you’ve paid Silicon Practice in advance, you pay us nothing until that period ends, for up to six months, so you don’t pay twice. There’s no minimum term. See pricing for what’s included.
Questions
How quickly can our website be back online?
The same day you contact us. We put your new website up on a temporary address first, with your opening hours, services and contact details, and give you a login. Your own web address follows once it's pointed at the new site.
Our old website is offline. Where does our content come from?
In October 2026 we checked Silicon Practice websites against NHS England's 50-point GP website benchmark and kept a copy of their public pages, so for most practices we can rebuild your content without the old site. Anything missing, you add in a short online form to check the facts about your practice, which takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Will our old Silicon Practice website come back?
We don't know. Silicon Practice's owner, Schappit Ltd, went into administration on 16 October 2026 and stopped trading on 27 October. The administrators sold the business on 2 November 2026 to a buyer they haven't named, and on 3 November the practice websites were still offline. If your old website did come back and you preferred it, there's no minimum term with us: you could leave on 30 days' notice.
We paid Silicon Practice in advance. Can we get that money back?
That money is owed to you by Schappit Ltd, and you're one of its unsecured creditors. Write to the administrators, Rendle & Co, with your invoices and proof of payment, and ask to be added to the list of creditors. We can't say how much, if anything, will come back. We charge you nothing until the period you paid for ends, for up to six months, so you don't pay twice while you wait.
Can we keep our .nhs.uk address?
Yes. Your .nhs.uk address belongs to your practice, not to your website supplier. It's pointed at your new website through a change to NHS DNS. Until that's done, patients can use your temporary address.
What happens to our online consultation?
We don't provide online consultation. If yours was FootFall, your ICB is advising practices on a replacement. Whichever you choose, we link to it clearly from your homepage.
What does it cost?
There's no setup fee, and nothing to pay until the period you've paid Silicon Practice for ends, for up to six months. See our pricing page for the yearly and monthly price.
Is gpsites.co.uk connected to Silicon Practice?
No. We're a separate company, not connected to Silicon Practice, its owner Schappit Ltd, its administrators or its buyer, and we're not their successor or partner.
