How to write your practice's flu, COVID and RSV vaccination pages

By Sreeni, Editor · Last reviewed 20 October 2026 · 4 minute read

Link, don’t copy

Every autumn, the rules on who can have the flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines can change: age groups, health conditions, dates. If your page copies the list, it’s out of date the moment the national programme changes, and patients act on the wrong information.

nhs.uk has a page for each vaccine that’s updated centrally: flu, COVID-19 and RSV. Link to them for “who can have it”, and spend your words on what nhs.uk can’t say.

What your page should say

  1. Whether you’re offering it this season, and from when.
  2. How to book with you: by phone, online, or whether you’ll contact eligible patients yourselves.
  3. Clinic dates and places, including any Saturday clinics and which branch.
  4. Other places to get it, such as pharmacies, and a link to the NHS vaccination booking services.
  5. Who can have it, as a link to the nhs.uk page.
  6. Housebound patients: how to tell you if someone can’t come in.

An example

Flu vaccines are available at the practice from Saturday 3 October. Check if you can have a free flu vaccine on the NHS website. If you can, book online or call us after 10am. You can also get a flu vaccine at many pharmacies.

Each season

  • Update your page before the national programme starts, and again when it ends.
  • Post a news item when clinics open, and link it from the homepage while they’re running.
  • Link the vaccinations page from your homepage during the season. NHS England’s benchmark looks for flu and COVID-19 information, linked to nhs.uk.
  • For childhood and other vaccines, link to the NHS list of vaccinations and when to have them.

Check your vaccination pages, and the rest

See your website the way your ICB will. We score it against NHS England's 50-point GP website benchmark and the GP contract's website requirements, and send you a short report with the quickest fixes. Free, whoever your supplier is.

Questions

Should we list who can have the flu vaccine?

Link to the nhs.uk flu vaccine page instead. Eligibility can change every season, and nhs.uk is kept up to date centrally.

What should our vaccination page say, then?

Whether you're offering each vaccine this season, how to book with you, your clinic dates and places, other places to get vaccinated, and what housebound patients should do.

Correct as of October 2026. Who can have each vaccine changes from season to season. Always link to nhs.uk for eligibility rather than copying it.
